Scoutmaster’s Comments
Our troop is changing s rapidly that it is a bit hard for me to keep up with. It stands to reason that you all may have some of the same problems.
Nicholas Williamson turned 18 on March 3; he becomes our newest assistant scoutmaster.
Joseph Caldwell was elected senior patrol leader.
James Shively is our Webelos II Den Chief.
Frank Toole has assumed the very important role as scribe. Frank is producing a monthly newsletter, which will go to all troop families as well as to second year Webelos scout families. I look forward to working with these new troop leaders.
"Scoutfest" is April 16-18. It will be at the Aiken County Fair Ground. Boy Scouts can camp out 16 - 17. Each troop and pack is to set up a booth, preferably a hands-on display rather than a static one. By the time the parents meeting takes place our scouts will have chosen their theme and be hard at work preparing to make it fun, informative and a winner.
Tickets are available now for youth to sell. We get some commission from the tickets we sell.
Troop 162 is making plans for summer camp. Our teen-age scouts have selected a hig-adventure camp in Tennessee
about sixty miles from Chattanooga.
Our younger scouts, first year campers, will attend camp at Camp Lynwood Hayne, our local scout camp.
There will be a parent’s information meeting Monday, March 15 at 7:00 PM at the scouthut. EVERY SCOUT NEEDS TO HAVE A PARENT REPRESENTATIVE PRESENT AT THIS MEETING. WE WILL DISCUSS COSTS, UNIFORMS, PROGRAM, AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS ABOUT.
